Brainstorming and planning for my music video

The initial locations that will be included in my music video are :A park, a forest, portobello road,a lake, graffiti tunnels, along the canel and inside a house/flat. I am choosing to use these locations because the character profile I am creating is of a girl who lives in central London in a busy city, and is very observant and enjoys being alone. She will be shown visiting places like the park and urban streets and colourful graffiti tunnels that she will explore. Later in the video or possibly in flashes of snippets throughout the video I have decided to film a key party/social scene, where the quiet and observant girl relaxes and reveals more of her true personality, through the conversations and the drinking that occurs at this intimate and small party and acting as rebellious as the majority of teenagers her age do. In the forest I have ideas of the girl running around the forest and sitting in a group of friends and laughing, in the graffiti tunnels she will be filmed strolling through the tunnels and looking at the varies designs. A large portion of the music video will be of the star/artist walking around these locations and gratefully taking in her sorroundings and staying silent.

My song's Lyrics

When my artist sings this line I will present the artist looking upset and confused as she looks around and scans the street she is walking down- to display her troubled thoughts and inability to escape

When this line of the verse is sang the artist will be seen looking presentable and clean and sober at the introduction of a party/social gathering smiling- by the end of the line quickly cutting to the artist shown as having grubby makeup messed up hair and not in a stable state acting wreckless

The artist or her group of friends will be viewed here smoking or shouting because the line in the verse links and relates so directly to the scene that will be shown- representing teenagers immorality and tendancy to socially smoke/drink together

When this section of the verse is sang the artist will lip sync these lines while getting ready to turn around/start running and watching and looking around at the trees towering over her in the distance as her face remains emotionless and cold

When the start of this verse is sung second long scenes and cutting of scenes where the artist and group of friends are seen acting mischievously and again acting wreckless and misbehaving while also laughing with eachother and enjoying themselves representing themselves as being wreckless and wild which therefore relates directly to the song lyric

For this scene where this song lyric is played the scene will be different to to how the artist has been presented, which will show her 'real' personality where she appears to be n overwhelmed and upset teenager, who will be seen running errands around the house, casually looking out of the window, running a bath etc and generally appearing to be her honest self, and emotionally vunerable and troubled. This scene will present her private and intimate self, where she is not portraying an act and is truly lost and drifitng though her days with lack of motivation and help.

When this song lyric is played the artist will be seen sitting in her house or on the floor of a graffiti tunnel lip syncing this line and again with a facial expression of emptiness or desperation

In this scene the artist will be stripped back and revealed as sitting in her bathroom with no makeup waiting for a running bath/dropping in a bath bomb and looking in the mirror as she lip syncs this lyric looking calm and quiet and fragile

In this scene when the song lyric is played a quick extract of the artist/her friends using a lighter or setting something on fire displaying the rebellious nature of the artist and her friends again

This moodboard visually represents and displays the type of artist my main character will be quiet, mysterious Observant and effertlessly careless about all consequences. She is aware of her reality and notions of the artist/character having depression is hinted. Viewed as mysterious and closed off. However, it is seen during the course of the music video in extracts that this image is a very strong and believable cover where the artists true personality and feelings are exposed and very real and different then the personna she has presented to others. She is infact troubled and extremely emotional and aiming to eventually break through her mental and emotional barriers, and her constant wreckless ways with alcohol abuse drugs and smoking, and overcome her demons and tendency to isolate herself. Viewed possibly as a source of fascination and also resentment. Her peers are presented as not understanding the artist and her erratic and careless actions when they are briefly shown in the music video, suggesting she is more comfortable on her own and is not bothered if they are in her company or not . The artist is initially presenting a teenager who is confused emotionally, and feels trapped by boundries and expectations she is represented at first as a 'cool' and 'rebellious' alternative girl where later after scenes being shown of her in her house alone, and not putting on a front that she is infact a normal confused and troubled teenager. The moodboard also shows the colours that will be mostly be featured in the music video which are dark colours black,brown,but also bright and artistic colours like neon and blue and green. Fashion that will be included in the music video will be: boots, thrift shop clothes, dark overall clothes, alternative fashions like ripped jeans, dark jeans, leather, heavy makeup, denim and patterned clothes. Also themes and scenes of fairy lights and neon lights.

This is another moodboard I created to present and show the fashion style and inspiration of my music video, and the type of style that will be shown in the music video. Styles like ripped and worn in clothing, and short provocative clothing like shorts and long tops with tights or leggins. Fashion styles in my video could also include a sense of a grunge darker and unique style. Aspects of denim leather and heavy stylish boots. The music video may also include trendy sunglasses and bright makeup and nails, and stereotypical bold and symbolic drawings on characters and the artists hands and arms.

In our media lesson we were asked to pick an album cover from an artists of our choice. We were then asked to create a brand new album cover for that artist, and use themes from their album covers to recreate our own and to become inspired by themes in their album covers. Once we decided on the artist we wanted to make an album cover for, The Weeknd, we analysed current album covers that he had and included these themes that he had in his covers. We chose a google image of an attractive model looking girl smoking and added a stencil grainy layer onto the image. We chose this central image for the cover, because The Weeknd includes many gorgeous and displays of getting high and smoking in his music videos and included in his songs. We also used the block of colours below 'The Weeknd's' name because this seems to be included in most of his album covers. We used themes of black and white for this album cover, because black and white is also very common in his album covers. We used the created title of the album 'dead to me' ,because this title and what is associated with it sounds similiar to a song or lyric the weeknd would have in one of his songs. This impressive and believable album cover was made through Adobe Photoshop.

This is the first attempt I had at making my album cover. I chose to place the title of the album in the top right corner of the image, and the name of my artist below the artists head and in the bottom left corner of the image. To begin with I was happy with how the text on the image was layed out, and how it contrasted with the brighter colours of brown and blue. However once reviewing the cover as a whole, i decided that it would be an overall better set out album cover if it wasnt too crowded with text, which would distract the audience from paying attention to the album's image, and the album's title was repositioned where the audience would be able to notice the title clearer and quicker.

This is my final draft of my album cover. My final decision was only including the album title on the album cover, this is because it draws more attention to the main theme, and characteristic of all songs on this album and also the main characteristic that melody bay as a character posseses. I also repositioned the album title to the bottom left corner of the album, so that it is clearer to the audience where the title is and makes the title being there more obvious. I decided to keep the font of the title suttle and uncomplicated and simple , displaying themes similiar to the appearance of the melody bay character herself on this album cover . Not needing an overdramatic and overwhelming font and colour.
