Ideas for the first section/stage of the music video and behaviour that she will show

Brainstorming events and how the artist will act

Moodboards representing what will be included in the music video

The structure for the music video

1st section= The traumatic experience- The artist's character brother dies

2nd section= The reckless character who becomes involved with alcohol abuse drug abuse and constant parties

3rd section= Starting to grieve and become more behaved and sensible- Having fun with friends and seeking help

The shooting schedule

There is clear intertextuality in the music video- Themes and inspiration from tumblr

Also includes Intertexuality from SKINS- Remaking/ making a tribute of key scenes from particular episodes and character types from skins. My target audience may love skins or are aware of it and recognise similiarities in the music video and scenes they've watched from the show

After completing the shooting schedule It came to my attention that I had the opportunity to do more filming so details of date slots to add on to the end of the current shooting schedule is:

A week after the 'sunday night' I continued to film on the following sunday night, using Jodie as the actress, props=tablets. And in these various scenes on sunday included a presentation of the song title 'Youth' spelt with tablets, p.o.v shots of oxford street, a scene where the artist has her head tilted up with her eyes closed and slowly faces forward and looks around smiling.

A week later I filmed various shots of the artist in her room, in different positions around the room becoming restless and overwhelmed. Looking at old pictures of her and her brother lighting candles and crying. I continued to film scenes of the artist playing with fire, burning paper with the chorus on it, hugging the brothers clothes and looking at pictures of him from the ipad, changing outfits in the mirror, looking out of the window, and walking through the front door in her sophisticated and reserved college outfit, and later shooting the artist walking through the same front door in a dark gothic and casual outfit with her grunge style.

The music video storyline/treatment

The music video will be a mixture of the artist in different and varied locations throughout, such as in her house, in her friends house, on the street, in the forest, the canal and around graffiti walls on the street

The storyline for the music video is of a character who will be played by the actual artist I've created and the story is personal to the artist, because the artist 'Melody' is acting out a traumatic experience that actually happened to her not long before she became famous. The narrative approach I have decided on means that the music video is less of one main event, and a vague storyline only slightly relating to the lyrics but a clear and sensitive dramatic storyline, which is a true story and experience for the artist Melody herself but also thousands of others who have experienced the same thing. The event that takes place is the character's brother being found dead by his sister(who is the main character) from a drug overdose and alcohol poisining, because the brother was addicted to strong and dangerous drugs. This addiction was a secret, and led to the brother taking too much and irresponsibily and recklessely mixing it with alcohol and as a result led to his early death. Audiences would assume he died from a heart attack or an aggressive reaction to the harsh overdose of drugs he took and drinking before going home, and being found in the bathroom.

The storyline develops and continues as the remains of the music video shows the artist and how she reacted when this horrible event happened to her. The artist is shown turning careless and self destructive by ironically doing strong drugs, drinking and smoking, and is hinted and briefly shown she stays out all night going to parties and raves. The audience is exposed to her reckless and dangerous lifestyle to deal with and avoid her emotions, and flashbacks of her brother for the majority of the music video. Where this section of the video begins with the artist travelling to an unknown house, possibly a friends house, where she then uses the  unsupervised empty house as an excuse to abuse the drugs and alcohol and seek adrenehlin through dangerous behaviour like she normally would do at home. The same behaviour is also presented to the audience when she is back home, and this is shown through a constant jump cut sequence from Melody being shown in her friends house to suddenly being in her house or on the street . This  continues throughout the video.Until near the end of it the character is revealed to start to recover and seek help, by mourning her brother and looking through old memories, having fun with friends and trying other therapuatic/relaxing methods to get better and fix herself after her trauma, and slow emotional breakdown and becoming secretely desperate for help. The music video will be presented at the last few seconds of the video by being stated as a tribute video for the artist's real brother who died this way and will confirm it was about the artist's real brother and the character in the video actually was based on the artist personally. The song itself then is also obviously a tribute song to the artist's brother and is about him. The song's lyrics also clearly links to the corruption of teenagers and directly shows the impact and result of these themes and behaviour on a teenager who gets carried away and becomes more then a fun and casual passtime.

The music video then could be labelled as a tribute video, and an entertainment video for teenagers who enjoy sad and relatable storylines, and the occasional exciting and interesting positive scenes displayed in it. It could lastly be considered an awareness video, because it shows the target audience the harsh and tragic result of their actions if they choose to go down this path, and aren't careful especially if they choose to do these things regularly.

Notes/planning for the music video from my folder

The music video will appeal to both the Indie audience and the alternative grunge audience, but FOCUSED ON and mainly the alternative grunge audience. The main reason this music video would attract the indie audience is because of the song and the nature of the song and also the way the video has been shot and produced (By using conventions of Indie music videos and how they are usually filmed), but the content and style and behaviour displayed in the video and the artist herself will be appreciated and idolised mainly by the alternative grunge target audience.

THE MUSIC VIDEO'S GENRE IS INDIE ALTERNATIVE

Why I chose to film these scenes-

All of the scenes in her room=

Lighting Candles and looking at his pictures in the room-Finally showing the artist in private and mourning by herself, and how sad she is.  The scenes in her room done to expose audiences to her personal and private space, and what she does alone which teenagers would be able to relate to and emphasis with.

Wearing Different clothes walking through the door-

suggesting that the artist had gone out to party or rave and had just returned. I chose to film the artist repeating the same scene in different outfits to show the contrast between her smart and respectful look for school, and her personal rebellious and frayed grunge look. Displaying the seperation of her two different personalities. One being a mask and a 'front' for school where she appears to be normal, and the other being her wild mysterious carefree personality who has a completely different style, who avoids her feelings and is actually extremely hurt and vunerable

The storyboard of the original plan for the music video- Before filming and editing

This page displays all planning involved in the final creative bankable production of the music video- The brainstorming, treatment, structure, storyboard, shooting schedule, prop list and notes from my media folder regarding the music video

The storyboard used for planning of the music video clearly was helpful, and when analysing the music video final cut it practically almost as the same structure as this storyboard, because I followed these initial drawn ideas when filming and editing
