Shadows settle on the place, that you left.

Our minds are troubled by the emptiness.

Destroy the middle, it's a waste of time.

From the perfect start to the finish line.

And if you're still breathing, you're the lucky ones.'Cause most of us are heaving through corrupted lungs

Setting fire to our insides for fun

Collecting names of the lovers that went wrong

The lovers that went wrong.

We are the reckless,

We are the wild youth

Chasing visions of our futures

One day we'll reveal the truth

That one will die before he gets there.

And if you're still bleeding, you're the lucky ones.

'Cause most of our feelings, they are dead and they are gone.

We're setting fire to our insides for fun.

Collecting pictures from the flood that wrecked our home,

It was a flood that wrecked this...

... and you caused it...

... and you caused it...

... and you caused it...

Well I've lost it all, I'm just a silouhette,

A lifeless face that you'll soon forget,

My eyes are damp from the words you left,

Ringing in my head, when you broke my chest.

Ringing in my head, when you broke my chest.

And if you're in love, then you are the lucky one,

'Cause most of us are bitter over someone.

Setting fire to our insides for fun,

To distract our hearts from ever missing them.

But I'm forever missing him.

And you caused it,

And you caused it,

And you caused it

When my artist sings this line I will present the artist looking upset and confused, as she looks around and scans the street she is walking down- to display her troubled thoughts and inability to escape

When this line of the verse is sang the artist will be seen looking presentable and clean and sober at the introduction of a party/social gathering smiling- by the end of the line quickly cutting to the artist shown as having grubby makeup messy hair and not in a stable state acting reckless

The artist or her group of friends will be viewed here smoking or shouting because the line in the verse links and relates so directly to the scene that will be shown- representing teenagers immorality and tendancy to socially smoke/drink together

When this section of the verse is sang the artist will lip sync these lines while getting ready to turn around/start running, and watching and looking around at the trees towering over her in the distance as her face remains emotionless and cold

When the start of this verse is sung second long scenes and cutting of scenes where the artist and group of friends are seen acting mischievously and again acting wreckless and misbehaving, while also laughing with eachother and enjoying themselves representing themselves as being wreckless and wild which therefore relates directly to the song lyric

For this scene where this song lyric is played the scene will be different to to how the artist has been presented, which will show her 'real' personality where she appears to be overwhelmed and upset teenager, who will be seen running errands around the house, casually looking out of the window, running a bath etc and generally appearing to be her honest self, and emotionally vunerable and troubled. This scene will present her private and intimate self, where she is not portraying an act and is truly lost and drifitng though her days with lack of motivation and help.

When this song lyric is played the artist will be seen sitting in her house or on the floor of a graffiti tunnel lip syncing this line and again with a facial expression of emptiness or desperation

In this scene the artist will be stripped back and revealed as sitting in her bathroom with no makeup waiting for a running bath/dropping in a bath bomb, and looking in the mirror as she lip syncs this lyric looking calm and quiet and fragile

In this scene when the song lyric is played a quick extract of the artist/her friends using a lighter or setting something on fire displaying the rebellious nature of the artist and her friends again

The song

A 1st draft brief list of ideas/storyboard for the music video shown next to the song's lyrics

Shadows settle on the place, that you left.
Our minds are troubled by the emptiness.
Destroy the middle, it's a waste of time.
From the perfect start to the finish line.

And if you're still breathing, you're the lucky ones.
'Cause most of us are heaving through corrupted lungs.
Setting fire to our insides for fun
Collecting names of the lovers that went wrong
The lovers that went wrong.

We are the reckless,
We are the wild youth
Chasing visions of our futures
One day we'll reveal the truth
That one will die before he gets there.

And if you're still bleeding, you're the lucky ones.
'Cause most of our feelings, they are dead and they are gone.
We're setting fire to our insides for fun.
Collecting pictures from a flood that wrecked our home,
It was a flood that wrecked this home.

And you caused it,
And you caused it,
And you caused it

Well I've lost it all, I'm just a silhouette,
A lifeless face that you'll soon forget,
My eyes are damp from the words you left,
Ringing in my head, when you broke my chest.
Ringing in my head, when you broke my chest.

And if you're in love, then you are the lucky one,
'Cause most of us are bitter over someone.
Setting fire to our insides for fun,
To distract our hearts from ever missing them.
But I'm forever missing him.

And you caused it,
And you caused it

Singing directly to her brother- Saying to him that he's left and it's becoming official and accepting it's permanent by 'shadows settling'

The most direct hint to her depression/troubled mind because of this trauma and issues with herself- 'emptiness' associated with depression- 'our minds' representing and speaking for the millions who suffer with the same thing(support)

Singing to the audience- 'if you're still breathing' meaning if you're not struggling and are stable you're lucky compared to her and others who feel the same as her

Bonding/linking herself to the audience again- speaking for them saying that 'we' are all corrupted and reckless by choosing to drink/smoke at her teen age

A lyric that links directly to and confirms the artist's/the teenage audiences behaviour and passtimes through smoking/drinking/drugs 'for fun' and to relax

'The lovers that went wrong' referring to all of the relationships that have gone badly for her and could be another influence on her bad behaviour and depression. 'Collecting names' showing that there have been many heartbreaks or she has lost interest because of her fragile and angry personna in this music video

'We are the reckless we are the wild youth' also confirms she recognised her behaviour and the majority of teenagers behaviour is reckless. That she is wild and states and accepts this fact. Also 'one day we will reveal the truth' showing she has a secret and a hidden identity and isn't ready to reveal it yet along with the majority of teenagers

'And if you're still bleeding' suggests possible self harm or the artist feeling like they're past that stage and doesn't/didn't feel alive- addressing her target audience again 'you're '

'Cause most of our feelings' relating and connecting her personal feelings with the teenage/adult audiences. 'dead' and 'gone' telling the audience that she has been so traumatized  and in shock by her brother dying that she has no feelings left- again including and speaking for her audience

'It was a flood that wrecked our home' a metaphor for her brother's death- overwhelming flood and not under her control- wrecked our home- ruined their once strong family bond and feeling of safety and security of the home itself

'And you caused it' singing to the brother- his drug addiction and mistakes led to her becoming this and her world crumbling. Repeating the line to put emphasis and importance on it because of how angry and upset she is

'Well I've lost it all' stating and accepting that she is broken and has withdrawn into herself- giving up

'A lifeless face' suggesting this is what she believes about herself and that she has had the light in her eyes taken by the chemical abuse partying and overwhelming thoughts/feelings she has- And she thinks she isn't worth enough to be remembered by saying 'soon forget' and suggests she only has distant and casual encounters and relationships with people

'Ringing in my head' telling the audience his words haven't left her and she can't stop thinking about him and 'broke my chest' showing the audience she was broken and damaged by his death and it broke her heart

'cause most of us are bitter over someone' displaying to the audience that she is bitter and constantly effected by him being gone and she is bitter and sensitive about it. And relating to the brother again by saying 'I'm forever missing him' and that she feels strongly about this

Again repeating and emphasising that his death and her/her family's grief was because of him 'causing it' and being irresponsible. Further singing directly to the brother and warning/highlighting to the audience the problems with and dangers of too much of this reckless behaviour and where the line should be drawn

This page displays how the lyrics directly link to/match the storyline and music video and scenes that I briefly planned because of the lyrics
